Advanced Nitrox

Rich and John Sidemounting in the Gallery at Devil'sIf you’d like to stay down longer, come up quicker, and generally just have a blast diving, then the TDI Advanced Nitrox class is for you.  The principles you learned in your basic nitrox course will now be expounded upon and the two direct applications of this course will be discussed. With mixes above 40%EANx (hyperoxic) you can significantly increase your bottom times at moderate depths and this course will also properly prepare you to use decompression nitrox mixes. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to use any percentage of Nitrox in your everyday diving, up to and including pure oxygen.

In addition, you will know the necessary equipment changes and modifications to safely be able to use these gases and you will have all the information needed to properly use these alternative breathing mixtures. You must have a copy of the brand new, updated TDI “Advanced Nitrox” book, which if you’d prefer can be send out to you ahead of time. It is highly recommended that you have your own oxygen analyzer, but I can provide one if needed.

It is very common to combine this course with Decompression Procedures as the two go hand in hand. The prerequisite for the Advanced Nitrox course is only Basic Nitrox, although I highly recommend that if you’re considering taking this course and are not yet familiar with a technical diving rig such as doubles, harness and wings that you enroll in my Intro to Tech class, which will introduce you to the basics of a technical set up and give you a head start on this entry-level technical class.

As with all cave and technical classes that I offer, please realize that participation in the class does not guarantee certification. Should you not end up with a certification, I will provide you with a list of areas that need more practice and I’m more than happy to assist you in working with these. If you have any questions regarding equipment, training, scheduling or about the course in general, please feel free to contact me at rich@divecaves.com and generally I will respond back to you within twelve to twenty-four hours.
