Normoxic Trimix

Divers entering Orange GroveThis is an introduction to the use of trimix in exploring the medium to deep depth ranges. The course is usually three to four days in length, completes the first half of your Tech 2 training and has Tech 1, Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures or its equivalent as a prerequisite. In addition you must have a minimum of one hundred logged dives with at least twenty involving staged decompression and be at least eighteen years of age.

Things to consider before you enroll in this course are the need for very good buoyancy and trim, comfort while manipulating decompression and stage bottles and possession of a great level of team and self awareness. During this course we will plan and execute a number of dives within normoxic depth limits, as well as practice the handling of multiple bottles while following all gas exchange protocols. We will discuss the applications of physics, physiology and medical aspects as they apply to deep, planned decompression diving, the mechanisms of bubble formation, inspired inert gas tension, isobaric counter diffusion as well as best mix, air breaks and other components of deep technical diving.

Upon completion of the class, the trimix diver will be able to execute trimix dives at normoxic depths while using multiple decompression gases in an environment similar to the one in which they were trained.

As with all cave and technical classes that I offer, please realize that participation in the class does not guarantee certification. Should you not end up with a certification, I will provide you with a list of areas that need more practice and am more than happy to assist you in working with these. If you have any questions about anything, such as training, scheduling or any other aspect of cavern and cave diving, please feel free to contact me at rich@divecaves.com and generally I will respond back to you within twelve to twenty-four hours.
